Rano DPO’s Murder: Kano Police Command Arraign 29 Suspects 

The Kano State Police Command says it has arraigned 29 suspects in connection with the murder of the Rano Divisional Police Officer, CSP Baba Ali.

A statement by the command spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said they were arraigned before Magistrate Court Number 20, Nomansland, Kano, after a thorough investigation.

He explained that 14 of the suspects were charged with culpable homicide and related offences, including criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance, mischief by fire, criminal trespass, causing grievous hurt, and theft.

The suspects are Bala Yusuf, Bala Mohammed, Abdulrashid Ibrahim, Abdullahi Salisu Kere, Sadiq Buhari, Yunusa Adamu, Musa Minkaila, Mamuda Mohammed, Ismail Mamuda, Usman Shu’aibu, Musa Hassan Black, Abdulrashid Munkail, Umar Ado Nadada, and Sabitu Abubakar.

The statement said an additional 15 suspects were charged with lesser offences relating to the incident, including criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance, and mischief.

The command assured the public that justice will be pursued in the case, and appreciated the public for their condolences, prayers, support, understanding, and cooperation over the incident.

“In light of this incident, the Command urges the public to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands.

“It reiterates its commitment to maintaining law and order, and ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in the State.”
