Rising Security Threats: Yobe Closes Boarding Schools

The Yobe State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all boarding secondary schools as a precautionary measure to safeguard students in the wake of rising security concerns across the country.
According to a statement signed by Mamman Mohammed, Director-General, Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, the directive follows a security meeting chaired by Governor Mai Mala Buni, alongside heads of security agencies in the state.
He said that the meeting reviewed recent incidents affecting schools in parts of Nigeria and recommended swift preventive action.
Meanwhile, a notice issued by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Bukar Aji Bukar, has directed all boarding schools to close immediately pending further improvement in the security situation.
It said Governor Buni urged residents to continue praying for the nation’s leaders, security operatives, and for sustainable peace and stability in Nigeria.
