The Commander of Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, Major-General MLD Saraso, has commended Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni for his continued support for troops as they battle Boko Haram and other criminals in the state.

Major-General Saraso made the commendation during the 2023 Sector 2 OPHK Nigerian Army Social Activities (WASA), held at the 27August Stadium, Damaturu, the Yobe State Capital.

The Syndicate reports that WASA is an annual event in the Nigerian military to showcase the  customs and traditions of the diverse Nigerian society living in the barracks.

“It is also meant to strengthen social relationships among officers, soldiers, and their families, as well as among friends, through cultural displays, musical performances, and other regimental activities.

“It was also conceived to create an atmosphere where officers and men would meet together outside the trenches to socialize, wine, dine, and make merry, aimed at appreciating the efforts of our gallant troops for the success achieved throughout the past year within our area of responsibility.” the Commander said.

According to him, they will continue to be committed and responsive in discharging their constitutional roles in line with the command philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.

The philosophy is hinged on transforming the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped, and highly motivated force towards achieving the Army’s constitutional responsibility within a joint environment.

He commended the Chief of Army Staff and the Theatre Commander, Operation Hadin Kai, Major General W Shaibu, for their commitment, support, and provision of what the troops need at all times in the conduct of counter-insurgency operations.

General Saraso also commended the operational team comprising Brigade Commanders, Battalion Commanding Officers and their gallant troops, Staff Officers, members of the Yobe State Peace and Vigilante Group, as well as the state Hunters Group for successfully overcoming the various challenges encountered during the year.

The Sector 2 Commander further expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support and provision of needed enablers in the conduct of the Counter Insurgency Operations.

In his speech, Yobe state Governor, Mai Mala Buni, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, commended the synergy between the military and other security agencies in the state.

Buni said that the commitment and resilience of the troops have resulted in the relative peace being enjoyed in the state.
