Deputy President of the Senate, Sen. Barau Jubrin, has congratulated Nigeria’s female national team, the Super Falcons, on their historic victory at the 2025 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament

Mudashir quoted Jibrin as describing the team’s victory as a testament to their resilience, talent and unyielding national spirit.

 

The Super Falcons came from a 2-0 down in the first half of the encounter to crush the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco 3-2 in a pulsating final match of the 13th WAFCON, played at the Rabat Olympic Stadium in Morocco.

 

The triumph marks the 10th time that Nigeria has won the trophy.

 

“I congratulate the Super Falcons and indeed all Nigerians on our team’s historic victory at the 2025 Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament.

 

“This victory is a testament to our players’ resilience, talent and unyielding national spirit. This is a moment of immense pride and celebration for our nation,” he said.

 

The Deputy President of the Senate, the founder of the Barau Football Club, which recently secured promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following an impressive performance in the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 playoffs, said the Super Falcons have again proven that Nigeria remains dominant in African women’s football.

 

“The team’s determination, discipline, and passion throughout the tournament are commendable. It inspires a new generation of Nigerian girls to believe in the power of their dreams.

 

“Kudos to the coaching crew, the Nigeria Football Federation, and all stakeholders who contributed to the team’s success,” he said
