The Senator representing Jigawa Southwest senatorial district, Senator Mustapha Khabeeb, has disbursed over N40 million working tools and take off grant to some youths in the constituency.

The Syndicate reports that each of the 40 beneficiaries were made to sign a bond that prohibited them from selling the empowerment tools.

The youth, who were trained in leather processing and footwear, were provided with start up tools and N100,000 each to set up their businesses.

The Senator urged them not to be distracted, but strive to be employers of labour by training more youths to engage in footwear production.

Khabeeb, represented by Jigawa State PDP Secretary, Isa Bello Gwadayi, said in the six years he has been a Senator, his focus has been on empowering his constituents to be self-reliant.

“Thousands of youth in this senatorial zone were empowered and had established their businesses and became selves reliant, providing jobs to others.”

“All this is in addition to many more small and simple empowerment schemes and grants to thousands of others. The target is to empower at least one person in each family”.

Senator Khabeeb assured the constituents that more empowerment programmes will be rolled out, and urged those who had benefited to train others in their communities.

The Syndicate reports that the 40 beneficiaries had earlier recieved 21 days training on shoe making.

The training was conducted at the Federal University Dutse by professionals from the Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology Zaria.

The beneficiaries who displayed samples of the footwear they made, presented an award to the Senator for his support and exemplary leadership.
