The Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has issued the Integrated Management System (IMS) Certification to the Obajana plant of Dangote Cement Plc.
The certificate was issued after a thorough one week audit of the company’s product quality and its compliance with environmental, occupational health and safety standards.
The Dangote Group ISO System Coordinator, Sani Mikali welcomed the recertificatio, saying the group has since 2010 recorded successes with valued added opportunities across the processes and systems in all Dangote Cement plants.
He explained that the group had established ISO Management system in its cement companies at Obajana, Gboko and Ibese as approved by the President and Chief Executive of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, under the guidance of the Group Vice president, Oil and Gas, Mr D.V.G Edwin.
In his remarks, the Plant Director, Nawabuddin Azad, a strong advocate of the System, said the IMS certification brings numerous benefits to the company, including continuous improvement of the processes.
Also, the company’s representative at the event, Kommineni Suresh, said Dangote Cement Obajana has set the pace in the industry, being “one of the first cement factories in Nigeria to attain the IMS certification.”
During the audit process, the Team Lead of the SON auditors, Mrs. Ijeoma Nkechi Ohaemesi, applauded the cement company for its commitment to excellence and continuous improvement of all the processes in its operations.
Mrs. Ohaemesi said the audit certification process aims to foster deeper alignment with set standards.
In her remarks, the IMS Team Lead, Akindele Temitope, highlighted the teamwork that made the success possible.
“This was only possible through management’s commitment and everyone’s dedication to this cause,” she said.
Mrs. Temitope said the certification enhances compliance, quality, safety, and improves communication and business focus.
“With this milestone, DCP Obajana reaffirms its position as an industry leader committed to excellence, sustainability, and global best practices,” she added.
