Super Eagles Captain named AFCON Most Valuable Player
Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has been named the Most Valuable Player of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) which came to a close on Sunday.
Troost-Ekong led the Nigerian team to a second place finish after loosing 1-2 to host Cote d’Ivoire in the finals.
He however netted the first goal of the final match giving Nigerians hope for a fourth AFCON trophy.
The goal pushed his goal tally in the tournament to three in six games.
Troost-Ekong plays for Greece club POAK and has been part of the Nigeria team since 2015.
