Sources told the newspaper that the thief sneaked into the Government House through Gate 4 and left with the vehicle around 5am on Monday.
Insiders said CCTV footages of the incident showed that the thief drove away through the main gate of the Government House.
Another source told the newspaper that the deputy governor’s office complex was only patrolled during working hours or when he is in office.
According to the source, the official driver of the stolen vehicle, Shafiu Sharp-Sharp, was interrogated and briefly detained.
“Already investigation has been launched. The driver is being quizzed, while the CSO (Chief Security Officer) is analysing the CCTV footages.
“The description of the vehicle has also been given to security agents to impound the vehicle and arrest the thief,” added the source.
Governor Abba Yusuf’s spokesman, Sanusi Dawakin Tofa, did not respond to our reporter’s calls and message.
