Tinubu returns amidst insecurity after 18 days absence
President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after an 18 days absence which drew criticisms from Nigerians as the country contend with rising insecurity and killings.
The president arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at about 9:50 p.m on Monday.
He was received by National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike among others.
Tinubu departed Nigeria on April 2 for France on what the Presidency called a working visit and retreat, and later moved to London.
In Paris, the President’s only reported engagement was holding talks with a middle level United States official, Mr. Massad Boulos on deepening regional security, including lasting peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and promotion of sustainable economic development in Africa.
While away, insecurity in Nigeria escalated with more killings and abductions recorded in Plateau, Benue, Katsina and Zamfara states among others.
