Tinubu tasks police graduates on modern policing ethics
President Bola Tinubu has advised fresh graduates of the Nigeria Police Academy to adhere strictly to the ethics of modern policing while carrying out their duties.
Tinubu said this on Saturday at the graduation of 478 graduands of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State.
Represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu emphasized the importance of shunning corruption and upholding the highest standards of professionalism.
He expressed confidence that the officers had received comprehensive training, both academically and professionally, to make a positive impact on the country’s security architecture.
He assured that the Federal Government would continue to support the academy, which he described as “one of the best” training grounds for police officers in the sub-Saharan region.
The president charged the new officers to prioritize the nation’s interests and discharge their constitutional responsibilities with dedication and commitment.
He also appealed to them to remain vigilant and uphold the ideals of the police, focusing on effective service delivery.
The graduation ceremony marked a significant milestone for the 478 graduands, who are now ready to contribute to the maintenance of law and order in Nigeria.
Earlier, the Commandant of the academy,AIG Sadiq Abubakar said that 478 graduands had been equipped with essential policing knowledge to enhance the security situation in the country.
He explained that the college had prepared a solid academic foundation for the graduates to perform optimally.
“In line with the college’s high standards, 17 programs offered by the academy have been accredited by the National Universities Commission. Furthermore, the academy is exploring possibilities for introducing management studies.
“It is my honour to present to you 478 Cadet ASP students, who have successfully completed their training. I commend the federal government for its significant investment in these graduates, which has paved the way for today’s graduation ceremony.
“The graduates’ academic achievements are impressive, with:7 graduates earning First Class honors,128 graduates earning Second Class Upper honors and 268 graduates earning Second Class Lower honors
“These outstanding results demonstrate the academy’s commitment to excellence and the graduates’ dedication to their studies,”the Commandant added.
