“I respectfully invite you to attend the 8th meeting of the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage,” Nta said. “The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Nicon Luxury Hotel, Area 11, Abuja at 10:00 a.m. prompt.”
Nta stated that the minutes of the 7th meeting, the draft agenda for the 8th meeting, and the Zoom link for virtual attendance will be forwarded to members of the committee.
At the 7th meeting, the Organised Labour expressed disappointment over the absence of governors and key ministers, except for the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, who also acts as a conciliator.
The Labour representatives noted that no government officials with the authority to commit to any outcome were present.
Meanwhile, labour has initiated an indefinite nationwide strike due to the Federal Government’s failure to meet their demands for a new minimum wage.
The Federal Government has offered N60,000 as the new national minimum wage, while Labour is demanding N470,000.
