UAE President To Visit Nigeria
United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has accepted Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s invitation to visit Nigeria later in the year.
According to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu extended the invitation Wednesday night when the two leaders held bilateral talks on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025.
President Tinubu participated in the Abu Dhabi forum, which is geared towards supporting sustainable development worldwide and encouraging collective action to address global challenges, such as climate change, water and energy crises.
Tinubu had delivered Nigeria’s position on climate and other challenges earlier on Wednesday.
During the talks, Sheikh Mohammed thanked Tinubu for participating in the forum, and expressed UAE’s determination to strengthen economic cooperation with Nigeria.
The two leaders explored areas of investment, with Tinubu assuring that his government’s economic reforms are yielding fruits, urging UAE to partner with Nigeria to develop the economy.
According to him, the reforms he initiated have stabilised the Nigerian economy, which is now witnessing growth.
He said this has encouraged foreign investors, including international oil companies to announce billion-dollar investments, signalling renewed confidence in doing business with Nigeria.
Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar, that of Finance Wale Edun, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu accompanied President Tinubu to the meeting.
