Uba Sani restates commitment to girls’ education
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State on Tuesday restated the commitment of the state government towards the education of adolescent girls.
He made the commitment when he received the World Bank AGILE Task Team Lead, Haj. Aisha Garba.
The governor used the opportunity to discuss ongoing partnership with AGILE aimed at improving secondary education opportunities for adolescent girls aged between 10 and 20, and reducing the number of out-of-school children in the state.
“The team expressed satisfaction with the level of work done following assessment of completed and ongoing AGILE/Kaduna State Government collaborative projects.
“They commended Kaduna State for being one of the best performing states in Nigeria in the execution of AGILE projects.
“Out of 62 projects undertaken, 40 have been fully completed and they are of high quality while 22 are almost at completion stage,” the governor said in a statement.
According to him, the AGILE team commended the state’s commitment towards reducing the number out-of-school children.
“With the State Government’s efforts, we have made progress in the enrollment and retention of children in school with over 300,000 children back in school since we assumed office.
“I thanked the team for the visit. I also commended the AGILE Kaduna Team for their uncommon commitment.
“Our State is lucky to have the best AGILE Team in the country. We shall continue to support the team to advance the education of adolescent girls. Education is a leveler. It is the best tool for mental and economic empowerment,” Sani stressed.
