‘We won’t be deterred by blind opposition’ –  Kebbi Governor

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris says he will not be deterred by blind opposition in his quest to move the state to greater heights.

The governor spoke on Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi when a high-powered delegation from the Argungu Emirate Council led by the Emir, Alhaji Samaila Muhammad Mera paid him a thank you visit.

He said that as a leader, he was aware that there are those who will never appreciate the positive impact of the administration in the last two years.

“This won’t in anyway discourage us from discharging our God-given mandate transparently, piously and patriotically.

“We are doing our possible best to restore the lost glory of Kebbi State and we will never waiver in this direction.

“The state belongs to all us of us and my administration will continue to use its scarce resources to further improve the living standards of the people,” he said.

The governor assured that all parts of the state would continue to be treated equally and fairly in the provision of government services and infrastructure.

Idris appreciated Argungu Emirate Council’s sustained support and cooperation to the state government, and commended the Emir for diligently discharging any local, national or international assignment given to him.

On the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, the Governor said the government would “team up with the Emirate to conduct a very successful event that will be attended by guests and tourists from across the world.”

Earlier, the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Muhammad Mera said the visit was to appreciate the Governor for the myriad of developmental projects executed in the area and other parts of the state.

He said the projects covered various sectors including education, health, roads and human capital development.

Mera also lauded the governor for providing befitting residences for traditional rulers in the state.
