We’ve constructed 62 secondary schools in one year – Gov. Uba Sani
Kaduna State Governor, Sen. Uba Sani says his administration has constructed 62 secondary schools across the state in the last one year.
The governor said on Monday while criss-crossing the state on projects commissioning and inspection that the government has also been engaged in the upgrade of hospitals and construction massive skills centres.
“It was a very busy day for us as we criss-crossed Kaduna State commissioning and inspecting projects as part of activities marking our first year in office.
“I was in Nasarawan-Rigachikun, Kaduna to commission the newly constructed Government Senior Secondary School.
“This project is part of the 62 secondary schools construction projects undertaken by our administration to provide access to education and conducive learning environment for our children, especially children of the poor, vulnerable and the underserved.”
Uba Sani said that the government has also been constructing Vocational and Technology Skills Cities across the state.
The governor, who inspected two of the projects in Rigachikun and Soba, said “when completed, the Skills City will help in addressing the skills deficits of our people.
“We want our citizens to have the requisite skills to fill positions in the industries and other businesses we have attracted to Kaduna State.”
The Syndicate reports that while in Ikara, the governor distributed farm inputs to smallholder farmers and small-scale agro-processors.
“We are committed to assisting smallholder farmers because they are critical to the revival of our local economies. Rural agriculture is the most effective tool for fighting poverty, unemployment and insecurity.
“We shall soon commence the distribution of fertilizer to Kaduna State farmers. We are making efforts to attract a Tomato Processing Factory to Ikara to boost tomato production in the area and minimize post harvest losses by farmers,” he added.
Uba Sani also inspected the ongoing rehabilitation work at General Hospital, Ikara, which is progressing steadily.
“We were assured that it would be completed on schedule. This project is one out of the six general hospitals we are rehabilitating across the state.”
