Windstorm: Buji Local Council Releases N4.7m For Emergency Repair of Schools

The Buji Local Government Council in Jigawa State has commenced emergency repair of primary and junior secondary schools destroyed by windstorm in the area.
The Council Chairman, Arch. Najibullah Falalu, who made this known in an interview with The Syndicate on Sunday, said ₦4,753,832.97 has so far been released to contractors handling the first phase of the project.
He said the intervention was necessary to address the challenges of dilapidated school structures so as to create safe and conducive teaching and learning environment.
Falalu said that the intervention aligns with Governor Umar Namadi’s 12-point agenda, of which universal basic education is a major component.
“As earlier promised and directed, the emergency intervention and renovation of dilapidated and inhabitable classrooms in primary schools has commenced,” he stated, adding that his Special Adviser on Works and Special Projects has been assigned to oversee the exercise.
The chairman said that the emergency repairs has begun with five primary schools identified for urgent attention.
The primary schools are in Madabe, Gwangwan, Dambazau, Alhajeri and Bulangori where pupils urgently require shelter and improved facilities as they resume for the new academic session.
Falalu assured that under the intervention, all affected schools would be rehabilitated and provided with essential teaching and learning facilities.
