Yobe Govt. Employs 948 Teachers

Yobe state government has recruited 948 teachers to bridge manpower gap in public primary schools in the state.
The Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Umaru Hassan Babayo, confirmed this today after meeting with Governor Mai Mala Buni in Damaturu.
“Most of those recruited were teachers who have been teaching in schools as volunteers without formal engagement by the state government.
“The board is organising workshops for the new recruits, to acquire additional skills on teaching for effective and efficient dissemination of knowledge to the pupils,” Babayo said.
The SUBEB chairman charged the new teachers to justify the government’s confidence in them, and said the board would monitor their performance to ensure productivity and for the government to get value for money.
In his remarks, Buni urged the board to ensure that only those who qualified for the job are given the opportunity.
“The board should ensure training of the new teachers to have the best out of them.
“Government would continue to support the board to promote efficiency and productivity for the state to achieve its set goals of taking education to greater heights,” he said.
