Yobe Govt Releases Six Years Gratuity Of LG Retirees

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has approved the immediate release of ₦2.1 billion for the payment of six years outstanding gratuities owed retired local government workers.
The gratuity is for those who retired from January 2020 to May 2025.
A statement issued by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ibrahim Adamu Jajere said the governor directed that henceforth gratuity payments must be integrated into local government monthly financial schedule.
This is to ensure that future retirement benefits are paid regularly alongside pensions.
“This approval reflects the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare and its resolve to ensure that retirees who have served the state faithfully receive their entitlements promptly.
“The move is a demonstration of the governor’s compassion and people-centered leadership, aimed at providing financial relief and dignity to senior citizens.
“The Ministry has commenced arrangements for the transparent and immediate disbursement of the approved funds to all eligible retirees.
“This initiative forms part of the Governor’s broader agenda to strengthen fiscal responsibility and enhance the welfare of citizens who have contributed to the state’s growth and development,” the commissioner stated.
