Zulum Makes Fresh Appointments
Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum has approved the appointment of Dr. Tahiru Shettima as Chairman Borno State Independent Electoral Commission.
The governor also appointed Prof. Yakubu Musa as Executive Chairman of Borno State Hajj Commission, and Professor Mohammed Abba Jimme as Executive Secretary, Guidance and Counselling Board.
The appointment of Dr. Shettima, a former permanent secretary, is subject to the confirmation of the state House of Assembly.
The new Executive Secretary, Guidance and Counselling Board is a Professor of Environment, Resource and Development, and had served as the Director of the Center for Disaster Risk Management and Development Studies of the University of Maiduguri.
On his part, Prof. Yakubu, the new Hajj Commission chairman, will take over from Alhaji Mohammed Dawule Mainok.
A distinguished scholar and administrator, Prof. Yakubu served as the Director of the International Institute for Qur’anic Sciences at Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano.
A Professor of Arabic Studies, he also served as member, Borno State Arabic and Tsangaya Education Board.
His appointment is also subject to confirmation by the state Assembly.
