Police arrest motorcycles thief, recover 2 stolen cycles in Jigawa
The police command in Jigawa has arrested a suspected motorcycle thief and other criminal elements in its first against crimes in the state.
SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the state Police Public Relations Officer, stated this in a statement on Monday in Dutse.
“The Jigawa State Police Command has recorded another significant breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to combat motorcycle theft and other forms of criminality across the state, with the arrest of a suspected motorcycle thief and the recovery of a stolen motorcycle through an effective tracing and tracking process.
“The Command received a report concerning the theft of a motorcycle from the residence of a complainant at Burtalan Quarters, Dutse LGA. Following the report, police operatives commenced the investigation and activated the available tracing process attached to the stolen motorcycle.
“The tracing operation successfully generated the geographical coordinates of the motorcycle, enabling the police to track and locate it to a house at Unguwar Tsika, Shuwarin Town. The motorcycle was subsequently recovered, while one Najib Adamu ‘m’ age 27yrs of Dutse LGA was arrested in connection with the theft,” Adam said.
The spokesperson added:”In a separate but related development, police operatives, in collaboration with vigilant members of the community, intercepted another stolen motorcycle at Narewa Village. The motorcycle had been stolen from the residence of a complainant at Kudai Village, Dutse LGA.
“Upon sighting the police and vigilantes who were acting on intelligence and concerted efforts to recover the stolen motorcycle, the suspected thieves abandoned the motorcycle and fled into a nearby bush. Despite their escape, the motorcycle was successfully recovered and is currently in police custody, while efforts are ongoing to identify, trace, and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
“The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, CP Tijjani Murtala, psc, mnips, commended the police operatives and members of the vigilante groups for their professionalism, resilience, effective use of intelligence, and cooperation in the recovery operations.
“The Commissioner reiterated that the Command would continue to deploy intelligence-led policing, modern crime-tracing technology, community policing, and strategic collaboration with local security stakeholders to prevent and combat motorcycle theft and other criminal activities in the State.
“He further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements, persons, or activities to the nearest police station or through established emergency communication channels, assuring the people of Jigawa State that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property.’
