15 killed by new terror group in Kebbi
At least 15 people have been reported killed in a confrontation between locals and members of the new terrorist group, Lakurawa, in Kebbi State.
The confrontation between members of the terrorist group and residents of Mera occurred on Friday.
The confrontation followed reports that some members of the terror group had confiscated some livestock belonging to a local, a situation that angered the villagers who trooped out to recover the animals. The situation resulted in deaths and injuries to both sides.
Those who died have been buried according to Isamic injunction after a funeral prayer attended by the state Deputy Governor, Sen. Umar Abubakar Tafida, and the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammad Mera.
It could be recalled that on Thursday, Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters confirmed the infiltration of the new terror group in some communities in Kebbi and Sokoto states.
Residents of the affected local governments had complained that the terrorists have been confiscating their livestock, imposing levies and forcing them to follow some ‘weird’ laws.
