The airlift of intending pilgrims from Jigawa State to Saudi Arabia will commence on May 18, officials said on Sunday after a meeting in Dutse, the state capital.

The Director-General of the state pilgrims welfare board, Ahamed Umar Labbo, made this known after meeting with the state’s Amirul Hajji, the Emir of Kazaure, Alhaji Najib Husaini Adamu.

The first batch of the 930 intending pilgrims will be airlifted by Max Air through Dutse International Airport.

According to the director-general, all necessary arrangements have been completed to ensure smooth transportation of the intending pilgrims.

The Amirul Hajj commended Governor Umar Namadi for finding him worthy to lead pilgrims from the state for the 2025 Hajj, and pledged to work with the board to build on the past successes in Hajj operations.

The Emir promised to ensure that all the intending pilgrims receive proper care both in Nigeria and while in Holy land.
