2026 Hajj: Jigawa Pilgrims Get Free Feeding Boost

By: Ahmed Aminu, Dutse

The Jigawa State Government has announced plans to provide free three-square meals daily for all its intending pilgrims during the 2026 Hajj exercise.

The gesture, approved by Governor Umar Namadi, is aimed at ensuring a smooth and comfortable pilgrimage for residents of the state participating in one of the five pillars of Islam.

This was contained in a press statement issued and signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Habibu Yusuf Babura, and made available to journalists in Dutse.

According to the statement, the Director-General of the Board, Alhaji Umar Labbo, disclosed that all pilgrims from the state would benefit from the initiative throughout their stay in the Holy Land.

He stated that each pilgrim would be entitled to three meals daily during the entire Hajj operation.

Labbo further noted that the initiative makes Jigawa the only state currently providing full daily meal services to its pilgrims.

He added that the feeding programme would cater for all categories of pilgrims, including those with special dietary requirements.

The Board, however, expressed appreciation to Governor Namadi for what it described as his continued commitment to the welfare of Jigawa pilgrims.

It also commended the leadership of the Board for ensuring effective planning and coordination of the Hajj exercise.
