281 Civil Servants Retire In Jigawa

A total of 281 civil servants working with Jigawa State Government and local councils have left the service the last six months, an official said on Wednesday.
Out of the number, 208 were state government workers and 73 worked with local councils.
The Executive Secretary Jigawa State and Local Governments Contributory Pension Board, Dr. Bilyaminu Shitu Aminu, said they have commenced the disbursement of N733.517 million benefits of the affected retirees.
Dr. Bilyaminu said that the payment included gratuity, death benefit and pension balance.
He explained that N542.017 million will be paid to 208 staff that retired, and N144.159 million to the 47 relatives of those that died in active service.
He said that 26 retirees who died after they had started receiving pension were paid N47.340 million.
According to him, the agency has been up-to-date in its payment of entitlements to retirees, including those that died in active service.
He said this significant milestone reflects the state government’s commitment to the welfare of its retirees and the importance of ensuring financial security for those who have served the state.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Umar Namadi for his unwavering support to the board.
