29 dead as boat capsises with 90 passengers onboard in Niger
A boat with over 90 passengers onboard has capsised killing 29 people in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
The accident occured close to Gausawa village in Shagunu district of the local government area.
According to residents, most of the victims, including women and children, were from Tungan Sule going for condolence visit to Dugga village.
Local officials say about 50 passengers were rescued, 29 lost their lives, and rescuers have been searching the river for the remaining passengers.
