29 May: Gov. Buni engages Yobe citizens in landmark accountability forum

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, on Thursday engaged citizens in a historic Town Hall meeting to celebrate his administration’s six-year milestone, highlighting transformative achievements in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and security.
The meeting held at the Government House Banquet Hall in Damaturu, drew traditional rulers, youth and women’s groups, civil society organizations, and media representatives.
Organized by the Office of the Special Adviser on Radio, Television, and Digital Media, Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad Yabani, the forum underscored Governor Buni’s commitment to participatory governance.
Governor Buni expressed gratitude for citizens’ support, crediting collaborative efforts for Yobe’s growth. “These six years have been a collective effort,” he stated.
“Together, we’ve tackled challenges and driven sustainable development.” Key successes include advancements in agriculture, youth empowerment, and peacebuilding amid security challenges.
A lively Q&A session saw the governor addressing questions from journalists, CSOs, and residents, reinforcing his administration’s transparency. Attendees lauded his administration, citing improved infrastructure and social services.
The event featured the launch of The Yobe Journal, a special magazine detailing Buni’s six-year scorecard—showcasing strides in governance, economic growth, and community resilience.
In his closing remarks, Buni urged sustained citizen support, emphasizing unity as the foundation for progress. “Our legacy is development for all,” he declared, receiving a standing ovation for his dedication to Yobe’s future.
The Town Hall reaffirmed Governor Buni’s people-centered approach as his administration enters its next phase.
