3,502 members of opposition parties defect to APC in Jigawa

By: Ahmed Aminu, Dutse

Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has said that the state will be 100 percent under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

He said that the party will take back the senatorial seat for Jigawa Southwestern zone, the two federal constituencies of Birninkudu/Buji, and Dutse/Kiyawa, as well as the state assembly seat fot Birninkudu, which were lost to PDP in 2023.

The governor advised the four PDP lawmakers to start counting their days as it will be a clean sweep for the APC in 2027.

Namadi stated this while receiving 3,502 members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Nigerian National People Party (NNPP), who defected to All Progressive Congress (APC) on Sunday in Dutse.

The defectors were received during a citizens engagement programme, Gwamnati da Jamaa.

“The APC is getting more acceptance and more stronger in Jigawa southwestern zone as a result of confidence and satisfaction with our governments’ human and infrastructural development projects spread in all the parts of the seven local government areas under the zone.

“With what happened here today where over 3, 400 PDP members in Dutse decamped to APC, and what we saw in Birninkudu and Buji local government areas, all in this senatorial district, where we also received dozens of thousands of members of the opposition political parties to our great party APC,  is a real indication that the senator of this zone, members of house of representatives of Birninkudu/Buji, Dutse/Kiyawa and Birninkudu state assembly constituencies should start counting their days in the Red, Green and Jigawa State assembly chambers as the people in their constituencies would vote for APC in 2027 by the grace of God Almighty.

Governor Namadi told the crowd that President Bola Tinubu has pledged to complete the multi-billion naira greater Dutse water project, and the Dutse-Kano-Daura-Katsina-Damagaram rail line, which has reached advance stage of work.

“The federal government has revoked the Kano-Shuwari federal road project and re-awarded it to another company which is already on site working day and night and it would soon be completed.

“Mr President has asked me to reassure the people of Dutse and Jigawa state, that his government would continue executing more and more projects here in Dutse municipal council and Jigawa state in general to improve the social and economical lives of the people,” the governor said.

He assured that his administration would continue to execute projects to improve healthcare, education, roads, water supply, job creation and the economic empowerment of the people.

“I’m happy to also inform you and promise that all the requests and demands you have just submitted in a booklet would be judicially looked into, and provide them. All those in this year’s budget would be done, and the once not in the budget would be considered in next year’s budget, Inshallah.”
