Bandits abduct winner of National Qur’anic Competition, 4 family members
Bandits have abducted Malam Abdulsalam Rabi’u Faskari, who represented Katsina State at the just concluded National Qur’anic Recitation Competition held in Kebbi State.
Abdulsalam was abducted alongside his father, Malam Rabi’u Zakariya, and three of his brothers, Lawal Rabi’u, Jabir Rabi’u and Kabir Rabi’u.
They were abducted near Bangori village close to Yankara, along Funtua-Gusau Road while returning home from Kebbi State.
Malam Sagir Rabi’u, who escaped the abductors, said the gunmen blocked the highway. “When they blocked us we were in the new vehicle given to Abdulsalam as gift for excelling during the national Qur’anic recitation competition. We were all fasting when the incident happened. I don’t really know how I escaped, but I am safely back home.”
