Wanted terrorism kingpins hold peace talks in Katsina 

Some terrorism kingpins in Katsina State have signed an agreement to stop attacking communities in Safana Local Government Area, locals and security sources confirmed the development.

Sources said that the peace meeting, held on Sunday in Gimi forest, was attended by community leaders and the terrorism kingpins from the locality and neighbouring Zamfara State.

Some of the top terrorists at the meeting were ‘Danda, who operates around Batsari and Safana borders, Usman Idris, aka ‘Ruga Kachallah’, and Sani Gurgu.

Kachallah and Gurgu are among the 43 terrorists declared wanted by the Defence Headquarters.

Among community leaders at the meeting were the Chairman of Safana Local Government Area, Alhaji Sani Abdullahi, and the district head of Safana, Alhaji Sada Rufa’i and that of Zakka, Alhaji Sani Muhammad.

Under the peace deal, the bandits agreed to halt attack on communities and reopen several local roads which were deserted by motorists due to banditry, while the residents and council officials would suspend the activities of community security groups in the area.

The terrorists also demanded access to markets and inclusion in the provision of basic services such as health care facilities by the government, among others.
