Police Recruitment: PSC Tells Governors To Monitor, Protect Allocated Quota
The Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), has advised governors to monitor and protect the quota allocated to their states for recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force.
“They should be prepared to protect their quota and avoid hijack of the exercise,” he said during a stakeholders consultative meeting in Abuja, organised to fine tune preparations for an improved, transparent and credible 2025 Police Recruitment.
The Syndicate reports that the commission will be recruiting Cadet ASPs and Constables soon.
He said that the PSC would fully work with state governments to ensure a transparent and equitable recruitment process, assuring that the Commission was determined to “eradicate connivance and purchase of slots”.
“Special consideration will not be allowed to supplant merit and equity. We want to stop corruption in the system and open up the exercise to promote healthy competition and equitable spread.”
A board member of the Commission, retired Justice Paul Adamu Galumje said the PSC would rely on the governors “to confirm that those to be recruited are from your states”.
In his remarks, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Secretary said that the PSC would establish offices in all states to effectively carry out its constitutional mandate, and appealed to the governors for support.
