Food Security: Yobe Govt to construct 197km rural road

Yobe State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) will construct 197 kilometre of road to link communities in three local government areas in the state to provide farmers access to market and enhance food security.
The state RAAMP’s Project Coordinator, Arc. Musa Suleh Damagum, said in an interview with our reporter in Damaturu, the state capital, that Governor Mai Mala Buni has already endorsed the project.
According to him, the 197km road will start from Garin Alkali in Bursari local government to Mutai in Gujba local government, and cross the federal road at Ngelzarma.
“This road which we termed ‘The Green Line’ crosses all the three senatorial Zones in the state and will provide farmers access to market and ensure food security.
“The RAAMP upcoming 500km and several other road projects in the state that His Excellency has been delivering are part of his administration’s well thought out infrastructure initiative to link each of the 178 wards with a viable access road.”
He commended the governor for his leadership and making Yobe one of the participating states in the RAAMP project, which is centered on promoting rural development and agricultural prosperity.
Arc. Musa Damagum said that the state RAAMP will in 2025 accelerate the construction and rehabilitation of critical rural roads to ensure seamless access to agricultural markets and uplift the economy of the rural populace.
Expressing confidence in the governor’s ability to deliver on his promises, Arc. Musa Damagum assured that Yobe state is on the path of a transformative era of rural development and inclusive growth.
He reiterated that governor Buni’s unwavering dedication to addressing the unique needs of rural communities will result in tangible and sustainable progress across the state.
