Kano Advertisement Agency sets 5-year revenue target

The newly established Kano State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KASA) has set a five-year revenue target of about N20billion from 2025 to 2027.

The Director General of the Agency, Mr Kabiru Dakata, said this while fielding questions from newsmen on Thursday at the Minjibir Pack.
“The five-year revenue collection target is aimed at collecting N3 billion in 2026, N5 billion in 2027 while in the second term of the government they would collect over N10 billion yearly,” he said.

He said the agency, which was established by the government to regulate outdoor advertisements, would soon commence operation as the necessary preparations had been completed.

“Even though KASA is a new agency established by Gov. Abba Yusuf to regulate outdoor advertisements, we are going to use both enforcement and revenue collection,” he said.

He said part of the enforcement was to ensure that the state outdoor advertisement signage posts were aligned with the rules and regulations of the agency.

“On the enforcement aspect any violations of our guidelines would attract punishment of one month imprisonment, three months community service, or payment of fines ranging from N100,000 to N500,000,” he said.

Dakata said that the agency was already collaborating with other outdoor advertisement agencies to work in unison so as to regulate duplication of their jobs and ensure that they operate within laws.

The director general said that the agency had commenced the registration of business owners who were using signage advertisement posts.

According to him, the agency is also working in tandem with the State Urban Development Authority to check indiscriminate putting of posters and other advertisement signs on public places.

“We will also correct the way and means some advertisement agencies use vulgar words and words that also go against the sensitivity of the community while placing their advertisements,” he said.
