Katsina State Television To Replace 30-year-old Transmitters
The Katsina State Executive Council has approved the procurement of new transmitters as part of measures to fully digitise the operation of Katsina State Television (KTTV).
The Syndicate reports that the 13th regular council meeting was chaired by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda on Wednesday in Katsina.
The state Commissioner for Information, Dr. Bala Salisu Zango, told newsmen after the meeting that the approval for the digital upgrade and transformation of the station has been “long-awaited”.
“The upgrade involves the installation of a 5KW main transmitter, a 2.2KW standby transmitter, and a dedicated solar backup system,” Dr. Zango said.
According to him, KTTV’s current transmitter was installed more than 30 years ago and has become obsolete.
“With this new development, the station will operate fully on satellite, accessible through decoders and regular home antennas.
“It will deliver high-resolution sound, video, and audio content, positioning KTTV as a true hub for information, education, and entertainment,” the commissioner added.
