Rep Moves To Establish Institute For Vocational, Technical Education in Kankara
The Bill for the establishment of National Institute of Vocational and Technical Education in Kankara, Katsina State, sponsored by Engr Shehu Dalhatu, has passed 2nd Reading in the House of Representatives.
Engr Dalhatu represents Kankara/Faskari federal constituency.
According to his media advisor, Kabir Isa, the lawmaker informed his colleagues during planery that the proposed institute would be a specialised centre for the training of Nigerians especially the youth, on vacational and technical education.
“At a time when Nigeria grapples with high unemployment rate and under skilled youth population, in addition to an ever widened gap between formal education and industrialisation, the Bill more than ever before, has become timely and relevant,” he posited.
Seconding the Bill, Hon Chile John Okafor from Imo State, said the proposed Institute would be of significant value to the youth of the country.
Earlier, the Deputy Speaker, Hon Benjamin Kalu, who presided over the session, recalled that the Bill was first read on Tuesday, July 2023, 2024.
After deliberations on the Bill, the House refered it to the House Committee on Alternative Education for legislative further action.
