Katsina Govt Releases ₦305.5m Study Allowance For 565 Medical Students

 

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has approved the release of ₦305,510,507.09 for the payment of study allowances of 565 medical students from the state studying  within and outside Nigeria.

The General Manager of Katsina State Hospitals Services Management Board (HSMB), Dr. Muhammad Nazir Shehu confirmed the development on Monday.

He said the money covers the regular allowances for the students and special project support for final year students.

Dr. Shehu said the gesture is to ease the financial strain on students and allow them to concentrate fully on their academic and clinical training.

“This approval by His Excellency is more than a financial intervention. it is a deliberate investment in the future of healthcare in Katsina,” Dr. Shehu stated.

“We expect the beneficiaries to honour this trust by excelling in their studies and returning to contribute meaningfully to the wellbeing of our people.”

According to him, the sponsorship of the 565 students is a broader long-term strategy aimed at expanding access to medical education, strengthening local healthcare workforce, and ensuring sustainability of medical services across the state.

He added that the target is produce competent medical professionals capable of transforming healthcare delivery across Katsina State.
