Katsina Peace Deal With Bandits Has Collapsed – Community Leader

A community leader in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, Alhaji Mahadi Danbinta Guga has said that the peace deal signed with bandits in the area has completely collapsed.
Danbinta, a strong voice for peace in the state, said the peace deal lasted only two days after which the bandits continued their attacks, abductions and killings, as well as the rustling of livestock.
“You don’t have to be in the opposition, a pessimist or a dissenter to unhesitatingly conclude that the “peace accords” orchestrated and negotiated in Bakori LGA has become obsolete!
“The Local Government tested relative peace for only two days after the deal. We suffered incessant attacks where lives and properties were lost, people kidnapped/injured, cattle rustled and robbed with severe psychological trauma,” the peace advocate said on his social media handle.
” Yesterday Monday, 10th, November, 2025, two Fulani settlements – Rugar Alh. Lawal and Saleh at Layin ‘Yannehu, Guga Ward, were robbed of their animals, Gidan Kaɗo settlement was attacked and robbed!
“Bakori town itself was not spared; for it suffered bandits’ attack at Gandun Sarki but for the quick intervention of the combined efforts of security personnel the gravity of it would have been devastating.
” We really appreciates the efforts of the Air force, the Army, the Police and unconventional security personnel that together repelled and neutralized the assailants.”
Danbinta said communities in the area appreciate the efforts of security agencies deployed to the area, but said they should do more to restore peace and stability there.
He tasked citizens at community level to make those in authority to be alive to their constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property of the people.
Danbinta cautioned about the continuous silence of citizens facing daily annihilation by the terrorists while wasting time debating the American threats to attack Nigeria.
“What are we doing at community level to make the constituted authority realize its constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and properties of the citizens? Or do we continue to fold our hands debating the American threats to attack Nigeria? Do we still chose SILENCE?,” he queried.
