No serious NNPP member has defected to APC in Jigawa – Aminu Ringim

The 2023 governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Jigawa State, Malam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, says no serious member of the NNPP has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
He dismissed APC’s claim that a large number of NNPP members had moved to its fold as “mere propaganda and false self-promotion.”
Ringim advised the APC-led government in the state to channel its energy towards meaningful developmental projects rather than spreading false narratives about fake opposition defections.
The NNPP chieftain stated this while interacting with newsmen on the recent defection of a lawmakers from his party to the ruling APC.
According to him, Yusuf Shitu Galambi, who represents Gwaram Federal Constituency, and others being paraded as having defected to APC, were never “genuine” members of the NNPP.
“All the so-called defectors were originally APC members before joining us temporarily. Galambi was denied a ticket by the APC, and we gave him a platform to contest, which made his victory possible,” Ringim added.
He also said another politician linked to the NNPP, Aminu Jahun, was expelled from the PDP before being admitted into the NNPP, yet served as a mole for the APC.
“We accommodated him even though we knew he still maintained ties with the APC and was leaking our internal discussions,” Ringim said.
He also spoke on Musa Majia, one of the defectors, saying that Majia had no active involvement in the party. “Majia was never part of our activities nor did he contribute to the growth of our party in any way.”
Ringim reaffirmed the NNPP’s commitment to providing credible political alternative rooted in good governance, transparency, and people-oriented leadership.
He urged members and supporters to remain steadfast, focused, and united in promoting NNPP’s ideals.
The Syndicate reports that the APC had at a rally recently in Dutse announced it had received over 66,000 defectors, including members of the NNPP.
