Tinubu In UAE For Abu Dhabi 2026 Sustainability Week
President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, UAE, ahead of the 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, ADSW, a major global forum focused on sustainable development and climate action.
Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
According to the statement, the President’s aircraft touched down at the Presidential Wing of Zayed International Airport at exactly 11:30 p.m. local time on Sunday, and was received by the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan; the UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi; Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar; and officials of the Nigerian mission in Abu Dhabi.
Upon his arrival at his hotel, President Tinubu was further welcomed by members of Nigerian delegation, including the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, NIA, Ambassador Muhammed Muhammed.
President Tinubu arrived in the UAE from France where he spent part of his end-of-year break, during which he met with President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and President Emmanuel Macron of France on issues bordering strengthening bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and regional and global issues of mutual interest.
The 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which officially opens on Monday, is themed “The Nexus of Next, All Systems Go.”
It is a global platform for world leaders, policymakers, investors, business executives, and experts to drive dialogue and collective action on sustainable development, climate change mitigation, energy transition, and inclusive economic growth.
President Tinubu is expected to participate in key sessions and hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the event, where Nigeria’s priorities in energy transition, climate resilience, infrastructure development, and green investment are likely to feature prominently.
The President’s visit is part of Nigeria’s commitment to global sustainability efforts and reinforces the growing diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and the UAE.
