Namadi Urges Jigawa Residents To Participate In Ongoing Voters Registration

Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has urged residents of the state, particularly eligible youths, to actively participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise as part of efforts to strengthen democracy and good governance.
The governor made the call during the commissioning of a newly constructed mosque in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Namadi, who was represented by his deputy, Engr. Aminu Usman, expressed concern that thousands of eligible voters across Jigawa State are yet to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), stressing that voter registration remains a critical civic duty for all citizens.
“Participation in the electoral process is not only a civic right but also a responsibility of every citizen who believes in democracy and good governance in Nigeria,” the governor stated.
He called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, community heads, youth groups and other stakeholders to intensify sensitisation efforts and mobilise residents to register and collect their voter cards, noting that mass participation would ensure credible elections and responsive leadership.
Also speaking at the event, the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Hamim Nuhu Sanusi, appealed to politicians and the general public to conduct themselves peacefully at all times, includinh election period.
The monarch warned that violence has never contributed positively to societal development, but rather undermines peace, unity and progress within communities.
He urged political actors and supporters to embrace tolerance and respect for democratic processes to safeguard the stability of Jigawa State and the nation at large.
