NUJ CONGRATULATES JIGAWA GOVT ON 35th ANNIVERSARY OF CREATION

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Jigawa State Council, wishes to extend its warmest felicitations to the Government and good people of Jigawa State on the 35th anniversary of the creation of the State from the old Kano State by the then Military Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (Rtd) on 27th August 1991.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Union Comrade Isma’il Ibrahim Dutse, and the Secretary, Comrade Aminu Umar Shuwajo, the Council commended both military and civilian administrations for their remarkable contributions towards the development of the State in various sectors.
The Council described the 35 years journey as one that has witnessed remarkable progress in education, healthcare, agriculture, and other infrastructural facilities, as well as peace and unity across the State.
These strides have transcended not only to Urban areas, but to all nooks and crannies of the state including hard to reach rural communities, which contributed significantly to the overall development of Jigawa State.
The Council noted that, the growth and developments recorded over the years is a clear indication of unity, and resilience of the people as well as dedication,and commitment of successive leaders who established solid foundation for the progress of the State.
As the people celebrates these historic milestone, the NUJ Jigawa State Council extends its warmest felicitations to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar A Namadi, FCA for his vision, mission and innovative programmes, which the Council said have continued to yield fruitful results in impacting positively to the lives of the people of the state.
His laudable transformative programs includes, but not limited to job creation, investment opportunities, youths, empowerment, Agriculture, healthcare delivery and improve welfare of the State Civil Servants, as well as promotion of human capital development and the general well-being of citizens.
Similarly, the NUJ extendes similar felicitations to the Emir’s and commended them for their hard work and dedication towards ensuring peaceful co-existences among the people of their respective Emirates .
CALL FOR PEACEFUL POLITICAL ACTIVITIES
Against the backdrop of the increasing political activities in the State, as politicians and political parties intensify their campaigns and mobilise support in pursuit of various elective positions, the Council urges all political actors to conduct their activities peacefully and strictly in compliance with the provisions of the relevant law.
The Council calls on politicians, political parties, and their supporters to demonstrate maturity, tolerance, and respect for democratic values throughout the electioneering campaign period and beyond. They are particularly urged to refrain from recruiting, sponsoring, or encouraging youths to engage in thuggery, drug abuse, violence, intimidation, or any other acts of political misconduct capable of disrupting the peace and security enjoyed by the people of the State.
The Council further appeals to youths not to allow themselves to be used as instruments of violence or political disturbances, but rather to contribute positively to the sustenance of peace, unity, and democratic development in the State.
The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Jigawa State Council, therefore, prays for sustenance of peace and stability of the State, which will further boost the growth and development, of the state.
It also commended security agencies for their resilience and professionalism in ensuring Jigawa maintains its position as the most peaceful state in the country.
