Police Arrest 6 Suspected Armed Robbers In Gombe

A total of six suspects have been arrested for alleged armed robbery in Pindiga District, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.
The six suspects were arrested on January 29, 2026 following investigations into an armed robbery incident in December 2025. However, a member of the syndicate, Alhaji Sale Adamu, is on the run.
According to DSP Buhari Abdullahi, spokesman of Gombe State Police Command, those arrested were Babangida Gamji, 25, at Fobawure Village, Billiri LGA; Dahiru Abdullahi, 30, of Wawa Village, Funakaye LGA; and Ahmadu Garba, 21, of Song LGA in Adamawa State.
The rest are Umaru Bubba a.k.a. Babuga, 25, of Dadin Kowa, Yemaltu-Deba LGA; Isah Haruna, 20, of Dadin Kowa, Yemaltu/Deba LGA; and Unman Abdullahi, 30, of Kaltungo LGA.
Abdullahi explained that in December 2025 at about 0230hrs, an armed robbery victim, who was attacked by one of the arrested suspects, Babangida Gamji and three others, reported the matter to the police.
“The suspects reportedly assaulted the victim with a rifle and a cutlass and attempted to rob him of his motorcycle. The victim narrowly escaped.
“However, the suspects contacted the victim via phone, intimidated him and demanded the sum of six hundred and fifty thousand Naira (₦650,000) threatening severe consequences if he failed to comply, the victim later paid the said amount.
“Upon receiving the complaint, detectives from the Command immediately launched a detailed investigation which led to the arrest of the principal suspect. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of his five accomplices.”
“During the operation, the following items were recovered from the suspects: one pump-action rifle, one locally made LAR rifle, 12 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, one live cartridge, one cutlass, and ₦227,000 cash.”
According to Abdullahi, the suspects are currently in custody undergoing further investigation, while efforts continue to arrest the fleeing suspect.
The Commissioner of Police in Gombe State, Umar Ahmed Chuso, commended the officers involved in the operation and assured the public of the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
