Jigawa: APC Stakeholders Call on Shehu Udi to Seek Elective Post in 2027

Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the 10 political wards of Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State have urged a former Chairman of the council, Hon. Shehu Udi, to contest any elective position of his choice in the 2027 general elections.
The party faithful, under the aegis of Ringim Move Fast (RMF), stormed the residence of the former chairman in their hundreds, declaring what they described as their unwavering loyalty and readiness to back him for greater political responsibility.
The supporters, drawn from across the 10 wards of the local government, said their call was informed by Udi’s “impactful and people-oriented leadership” during his tenure.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Ringim, the group listed achievements recorded under his administration in education, healthcare, security, agriculture, as well as women and youth empowerment.
According to them, the local government witnessed grassroots development and inclusive governance during his time in office, with deliberate policies aimed at human capital development and community advancement.
They maintained that his administration strengthened local security structures, supported farmers, and created economic opportunities for youths and women.
“We have seen his commitment, accessibility and dedication to the welfare of our people. We believe he still has more to offer,” the group stated, urging him to begin consultations ahead of 2027.
The supporters also pledged to mobilise support across all wards and beyond, assuring him of total backing at every level.
Responding, Hon. Udi expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him, describing the endorsement as a call to service.
“As a servant of the people, I am humbled by this overwhelming support. I will carefully consider your call. Whatever decision I take will be guided by the collective interest and development of Ringim, Jigawa State and Nigeria at large,” he said.
He further told the gathering to reflect and advise him on the specific position they would want him to contest.
“I have listened to your call. Go back, consult and decide the position you want me to contest. Insha Allah, I will abide by your decision and contest,” Udi added.
The former chairman reaffirmed his commitment to the unity, progress and sustainable development of Ringim Local Government Area, stressing that the wellbeing of the people remains his top priority.
