Police provide support for 100 widows of deceased officers in Jigawa

The police command in Jigawa State, has supported 100 widows of fallen officers with foodstuffs, as part of celebration for the 2026 International Women’s Day.
SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, the command’s Public Relations Officer, stated this in a statement in Dutse.
Adam stated that the International Women’s Day celebration was organized in collaboration with the Police Officers’ Wives Association, adding that the widows were given food items, including bags of rice and cartons of spaghetti.
“Jigawa State Police Command, in collaboration with the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), on Monday, 9th March 2026, organized a humanitarian outreach program at the State Headquarters in commemoration of International Women’s Day, reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of the police family and the recognition of the invaluable contributions of women in society.
“The event, which was organized under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, psc, fdc, was aimed at supporting one hundred (100) widows of fallen police officers who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
“The program was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, DCP Tijjani Murtala, who highlighted the significance of International Women’s Day as a global event dedicated to celebrating the resilience, strength, sacrifices, and achievements of women across the world.
“The DC emphasized that women within the policing family play critical roles not only as officers and professionals serving the nation with dedication, but also as mothers, wives, caregivers, and pillars of support to officers who wear the uniform,” he said.
Adam added: “He noted that the initiative to support the widows reflects the compassionate leadership of the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that the sacrifices of fallen officers are never forgotten.
“As part of the program, food items, including bags of rice and cartons of spaghetti, were distributed to one hundred widows of deceased police officers. The gesture symbolized remembrance, appreciation, and solidarity with the families left behind by the Command’s fallen heroes.
“Mrs. Dinna Yunana, who represents the Chairperson of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), commended the Jigawa State Police Command for the thoughtful initiative and reaffirmed POWA’s continued dedication to supporting the welfare of police families.
“At the end of the program, the vote of thanks was jointly delivered by Aisha Yakubu and Maryam Idris, who expressed deep appreciation to the Command for remembering and supporting the widows of fallen officers.
“The Jigawa State Police Command reiterates its commitment to promoting welfare, compassion, and unity within the policing family, while continuing to honor the sacrifices of officers who lost their lives in the service of the nation.”
