
Police arrest robbery suspects, fraudsters in Jigawa

The police command in Jigawa State, says it has arrested a number of robbery suspects, fraudsters and other criminals in its sustained efforts to combat crime and ensure the safety of lives and property in the state.
SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, Police Public Relations Officer, stated this in a statement issued on Monday in Dutse.
“On 13/03/2026 at about 1700hrs, detectives attached to Shuwarin Division, while acting on credible intelligence, arrested two suspects, Abdullahi Muhammad ‘m’ age 18yrs, and Sabiu Kamisu ‘m’ age 40yrs both of Rangwam, Sundimina, Birnin Kudu LGA, for criminal conspiracy and fraud.
“The suspects deceived a 37-year-old of Kajuru LGA, Kaduna State, and fraudulently collected the sum of one million and fifty thousand naira (₦1,050,000) under the pretext of exchanging US dollars.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime, while sixty-four (64) pieces of counterfeit one hundred-dollar notes and a Honda vehicle with registration number BKD 220 AA were recovered,” he said.
Adam stated that the police also arrested 12 suspects for criminal conspiracy, robbery, culpable homicide and cattle rustling among others.
“On 14/06/2026, following a tip-off, a team of policemen from ‘B’ Division Hadeji arrested twelve (12) suspects for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, culpable homicide, cattle rustling, theft, and receiving stolen property.
“The suspects belonged to the syndicate of the notorious criminal (AKA Alin Mai), who is terrorizing Hadejia and environs. During the operation, one motor vehicle (Mercedes Benz), three (3) motorcycles, motorcycle spare parts, master keys, an invoice receipt, a bunch of arrows, hand gloves, a bag of cement, and an MP3 were recovered.
“The suspects alongside exhibits were transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Dutse for discreet investigation; upon completion, the suspects will be charged in court to face the law,” he said.
Adam stated that the police also arrested one Inusa Isa, while robbing an individual of his motorcycle.
“On 16/03/2026 at about 1630hrs, following a distress call, police detectives attached to Ringim Division arrested one Inusa Isa ‘m’ age 37yrs of Dausayi village, Ringim LGA, with his three accomplices while robbing an individual of his red Boxer motorcycle between Chaichai and Shafar villages.
“The motorcyclist was threatened with a gun and dispossessed of his motorcycle and mobile phone. The other three suspects were identified as follows: Binya Sabo ‘m’ age 20yrs, Yusuf Usman ‘m’ age 25yrs, and Abba Usman ‘m’ age 24yrs.
“The robbed motorcycle and a fabricated single-barrel rifle used in committing the offence were successfully recovered. The case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Dutse for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution,” he said.
Adam stated that the police also arrested one Adamu Abdullahi of Kankare Village in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of the state for allegedly robbing a 42-year-old man of N1million cash.
“On 17/03/2026 at about 1145hrs, police operatives attached to Bamaina Division arrested one Adamu Abdullahi ‘m’ age 25yrs of Kankare Village, Birnin Kudu LGA, who conspired with six other suspects and lured a 42-year-old to a bush located at Jangargari Village under the pretext of exchanging foreign currency.
“The victim was attacked with a machete and robbed of the sum of one million naira (₦1,000,000). On investigation, the suspect has confessed to the crime, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend his accomplices.
“On 19/03/2026 at about 1520hrs, two suspects, namely Amadu Umar ‘m’ age 25yrs and Tambaya Umar ‘m’ age 23yrs both of Auzara, Kachako LGA, Kano State, were apprehended by police on routine patrol around Sabuwar Takur, Dutse metropolis.
“The suspects were found in possession of a red Honda motorcycle with registration number HJA 178 QK suspected to have been stolen and used the same motorcycle in stealing domestic animals. The case is under investigation,” he said.
Adam added:”On the same date, at about 1600hrs, a coordinated raid was conducted in the Maidabara area of Gumel LGA. During the raid, one Shamsu Abdullahi ‘m’ age 18yrs of Hotoro Quarters, Kano State, was arrested in possession of two thousand four hundred and sixty (2,460) pieces of Exol tablets and one hundred and fifty (150) capsules of Pregabalin.
“The suspect is currently under investigation, and the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Dutse, for discreet investigation and prosecution.
“On 20/03/2026 at about 2030hrs, a patrol team attached to the Birnin Kudu Division arrested one Muktar Sa’idu ‘m’ age 20yrs of Zazikan Jeji Village, Ningi LGA of Bauchi State, while he was robbing an individual of his motorcycle around Alkali Quarters in Birnin Kudu LGA. A robbed motorcycle was recovered. The suspect has since been charged in court for prosecution.
