Marwa lauds Gov Namadi’s transformation of Jigawa
Retired Brig.- Gen. Buba Marwa, the Chairman and Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has lauded Gov. Umar Namadi for transforming Jigawa State into a better state.
Marwa stated this at the launch of the Campaign Against Drug Abuse and the Signing of the Executive Orders on the Establishment of the Jigawa State Task Force on Drug Abuse Control and Mass Mobilization for Social Reorientation, held at the Government House, Dutse.
“As a student of governance and public administration myself, I am pleased to express my deepest commendation to the Executive Governor of this great State, His Excellency, Malam Umar A. Namadi, FCA, for the tremendous efforts he is making towards transforming Jigawa State for the better.
“The Governor is proving that proactive governance is the best antidote to social malaise. When we hear that an agency has been established specifically to create employment opportunities for our youth, and when we know that one of the greatest causes of drug abuse is unemployment and the lack of productive engagement, it becomes music to our ears.
We wish Your Excellency even greater success in this regard.
“We are also aware of your interventions across the State in agriculture, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and peacebuilding,” he said.
Marwa also commended the governor for his numerous support to the NDLEA.
“I want to especially appreciate His Excellency, the Governor.
There is no Governor in Nigeria today who is doing more for the NDLEA State Command than the Governor of Jigawa State.
“His Excellency has provided us with land for the construction of a permanent barracks, which I inspected this morning. It is a vast and very suitable piece of land.
“He has also supported us with office accommodation for our State Headquarters. He has paid the rent for the official residence of our State Commander. He has supported rehabilitation efforts and has indicated plans to do even more.
“We are sincerely appreciative.Thank you very much,” he said.
Marwa said that maintaining peace in the State was a major achievement of the Namadi’s administration.
“Peace itself is a major achievement in today’s Nigeria. We commend Your Excellency for all these initiatives and interventions.
“May Almighty Allah continue to bless and strengthen you.
By institutionalising this Task Force today, Your Excellency has sent a very clear message.
That message is that in Jigawa State, the health, safety and security of the people are paramount and non-negotiable.
“This initiative is, without doubt, a Jigawa Model of Excellence.
I therefore call upon other State Governments across the Federation to look towards Dutse today and emulate this strategic blueprint for domesticating the war against drug abuse and promoting societal reorientation.
“Our society must be orderly, disciplined, patriotic, and remain far, far away from illicit drug use.
I must also commend Your Excellency for the choice of the Coordinator of this Task Force,” he said.
