JIGAWA AT 35: ONE PEOPLE, ONE DESTINY, ONE FUTURE

The Civil Society Coalition on Peace, Security and Conflict Resolution, under the leadership of Comrade Musbahu Basirka, has congratulated the people and Government of Jigawa State on the 35 anniversary of the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by Barr. Nura Muhammad, the Secretary of the coalition on Wednesday in Dutse.
“As Jigawa State marks 35 years since its creation, the Civil Society Coalition on Peace, Security and Conflict Resolution, under the leadership of Comrade Musbahu Basirka, warmly congratulates the people and Government of Jigawa State on this remarkable milestone.
“The Coalition proudly appreciates all past administrations for their respective contributions to the growth and development of the state, and commends the current administration under Governor Umar Namadi, FCA, for its continued efforts in infrastructure, education, agriculture, social protection, security and economic development.
“We equally recognise and appreciate the traditional rulers across all five Emirates of Jigawa State, as well as our religious leaders, for their enduring role in promoting peace, social harmony, unity and responsible citizenship. Their wisdom and community leadership remain essential to the stability and progress of our state.
“At 35, Jigawa must look forward with renewed determination. We call for stronger community dialogue, early-warning systems and peaceful conflict-resolution mechanisms, particularly concerning Gwaram and Fulani-related farmer-herder challenges,” he said.
He added: “We urge government, security agencies, traditional institutions, farmers, pastoralists and civil society to address disputes through dialogue and justice. No community should be collectively criminalised for the actions of individuals.
“The emerging expansion of mining activities across Jigawa offers opportunities for employment, investment and economic diversification. We recommend transparent licensing, environmental protection, community consultation, safety standards and accountable management of mining revenues.
“We also encourage sustained investment in agriculture, education, healthcare, livestock, youth employment, entrepreneurship and other emerging sectors.
“As political activities gather momentum, the Coalition urges all political parties, aspirants and supporters to embrace political decency and issue-based campaigns.
“Seek votes, not division. Debate policies, not identities. Compete for leadership, but protect Jigawa.
“Ethnic mobilisation, religious manipulation, hate speech, misinformation and political violence must have no place in our democracy.
“The Coalition renews its commitment to working with government, traditional and religious institutions, security agencies, political actors, civil society and citizens to build a peaceful, united, accountable and prosperous Jigawa State.
“Happy 35th Anniversary, Jigawa State! One State. One People. One Future.”
