I’m ready to serve as Gov Yusuf’s gateman – Ex- Information Commissioner

Former Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Waiya, says he is willing to serve as Gov. Abba Yusuf’s gateman, if so deployed by the governor.
Waiya, who was last week redeployed to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, stated this when he addressed a mammoth crowd of supporters shortly after assuming duty at the Sports Ministry in Kano on Wednesday.
He described his redeployment to the Sports Ministry as a call to service, pledging to put in his best to turn around the fortunes of the ministry.
“Last week when the news about my deployment broke out, my detractors started speculating that I have been dropped from Gov. Yusuf’s cabinet. Then the information came out that I have just been redeployed from the Information Ministry to the Sports Ministry.
“I never felt bad about it because the governor has the best interest of the state and the people in his heart, the governor is a very close ally of mine and nobody can separate us because our bond is very strong, like I said, nobody can separate me from the governor,” he said.
Waiya added that his focus was to serve the people and not to make money in government.
“All those speculating that the governor is going to drop me because of a certain reason should stop because we have a very close bond, I have no reservation whatsoever with the governor and I believe that he doesn’t also harbor any hard feelings about me.
“If the governor so decide today that I should be redeployed from the Ministry to his house or office as gateman, I will gladly accept the offer,” he said.
Waiya added: “We came to serve the people and not to loot their money, we are not rich in terms of money but we have the people. It’s call to duty we must sit down immediately to provide the needed services to the people.”
He promised to mobilize at least 3 million votes for the governor in the 2027 General Elections.
“I want to assure the governor that his decision to move me to the Sports Ministry was not a mistake as will continue to serve.
“I want to promise the governor from 1 million to 3 million votes in the 2027 Governorship Election. I assure you that your re-election bid will be easy in the forthcoming poll,” he said.
