Suspected Terrorist Arrested At Kaduna Hospital Receiving Treatment For Gunshot Wound

Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a suspected terrorist, identified as Auta Maikyala, at a hospital in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where he reportedly went to seek medical attention for a gunshot wound.

The suspect was arrested on Thursday, November 5, during an intelligence-led operation conducted by troops of Sector 1, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in collaboration with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

In a statement issued on Friday, November 6, the Acting Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North West), Captain Tamuno Sinivie, confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect was receiving treatment when security operatives apprehended him.

According to the military, preliminary investigations revealed that Maikyala was allegedly involved in several criminal activities, including attacks on communities, kidnapping and cattle rustling.

He reportedly sustained the gunshot injury during a confrontation with a rival faction before seeking medical attention at the hospital.

The Army said the suspect remained in custody for further investigation and prosecution.

Meanwhile, troops also conducted clearance operations in Aljummu Hausa, Aljummu Fulani and Tunga Magaji villages in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Thursday.

The operation was reportedly aimed at targeting terrorist hideouts and restricting the activities of armed groups in the affected communities.

In a related development, the Nigerian Air Force carried out air interdiction operations against locations suspected to be associated with wanted terrorist kingpin, Dogo Gide, in Babban Doka and Kuyumbana Forest, both in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The military said intelligence reports indicated that suspected terrorists had gathered in the locations to plan and coordinate criminal activities.

It added that troops were maintaining control of surrounding areas following the operations.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA reiterated its commitment to sustaining security operations across its joint operational area and urged residents to provide credible information to security agencies to help identify and apprehend suspected criminals.

The operations form part of ongoing military efforts to combat kidnapping, cattle rustling and other forms of armed criminality across Kaduna and Zamfara states.
