Niger govt signs agreement for cultivation of 5,000 hectares of Sesame 

Niger State Government has sealed a partnership agreement with an International Agricultural Company, Jade Partners for the cultivation of 5,000 hectares of Sesame.

The agreement was sealed in conjunction with Niger Foods and Security systems and logistics Ltd at the Government House Minna.

The project, supported by the Niger State Government seeks to empower local farmers with modern farming techniques, inputs, guaranteed off-take for their harvests including creating job opportunities for the teeming populace and increasing sesame output.

The target is to transform Niger state into a hub for high-quality sesame cultivation, the Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, said,

According to him, the agreement is a reflection of the government’s commitment to driving agricultural development and creating opportunities for the people.

Mr Sammy Adigun, Executive Chairman Niger Foods, described the initiative as a game-changer for farmers in Niger state.

He said that the initiative will position the state as a leader in sustainable sesame production and in the long run, boost rural development and strengthen Nigeria’s role as a leading sesame exporter.
