Alia Donates N370m To Families of 74 Deceased Security Personnel 

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has announced a donation of N5 million to the families of each of the 74 security personnel killed in active service in the state between 2024 and 2025.

The Syndicate reports that the total donation is N370 million.

The governor, who pledged to initiate empowerment programmes for widows of the officers killed, made the announcement when he met with some of the family members of the deceased officers, on Friday in Makurdi.

“Today, I met with the widows, children and family members of our brave security men who lost their lives while working to keep our dear state safe from condemnable attacks from armed herdsmen.

“Their sacrifice is beyond words. They paid with their all, even their life, so that we can sleep in peace.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Benue State, I announce a donation of ₦5 million to each of the 74 families we have lost between 2024 and 2025, and I have directed that medium and long term education and empowerment programmes be initiated for their children and widows.”

He pledged to support the treatment of those injured. “We will also cover the medical expenses of all officers currently injured in the line of duty.”

Governor Alia called on the people of Benue state to respect and cooperate with all security agencies.

“They are not our enemies, they are the shield that protects us all. Let us speak well of them, pray for them, and support them always.

“May the memories of our fallen heroes remain a blessing, and may God continue to protect every man and woman in uniform still serving our state and nation. Amen,” Governor Alia said.
